Sung Mass 11.00am

Good Morning and welcome to our Sunday Mass today. Thank you to those who so kindly helped get the church cleaned up the Saturday before Alice and Mary’s Funeral. Alice knew Mary Komur and the children, and always asked after them and prayed for them. It is a consolation; I do not say a blessing, that their respective Services fall on such special days in the church’s calendar.  May some of their good wholehearted spirit remain in this house of prayer. Thank you to those who helped me on the day.

We continue to echo the call for an ending to the hostilities in the Middle East. Our prayers, actions and voices go out to all who suffer and are suffering in that region today.

After Communion today we will say the Prayer of Pope S John XXIII, for Peace.  In Pacem in Terris, A letter he wrote to ‘All people of good-will’, he calls for Peace on Earth. Pope Francis, today, is imploring the same end to the terrible hostilities in Israel, The West Bank & Gaza and beyond.

At this time of loss, our own bereavements in our community I am especially grateful for the support of the PCC. We laid Raphael to rest on Friday and it was so good to see many from the Sunday Mass attend here, as well as from the wider parish.

We continue our Daily Office here and Mass this week for Peace in the Middle East and for the end of hostilities in Gaza; for the lifesaving aid to get through to its citizens and the most vulnerable among them.

The Twenty Eighth Sunday of the Year Yr. A  Psalter/Daily Office Book Wk. 4

Sung Mass 11.00am

A PCC after Mass   All PCC members are politely requested to attend

Good Morning and welcome to our Sunday Mass today. The gospel continues with St Matthew’s Parable of the last things. The Wedding Feast can be thought of as our own baptism and how we respond daily to the love and grace of God’s Spirit, even in a world of war, terror and bloodshed. Usually those who were trusted or esteemed in the gospel are brought low through a power greater than themselves.

Last week we prayed for peace, knowing almost certainly it wouldn.t happen. Do we still pray? Do we still encourage those who seek peace in the Middle East. Whatever goes on, we must pray for those who are the innocent victims of war. We pray for the end to these terrible events in the Middle East before they begin to cause widespread war, fear and social hostility.

Psalter/Daily Office Book Wk. 4

Sung Mass 11.00am

Good Morning and welcome to our Sunday Mass today. The message of forgiveness is again repeated. Isn’t this the continual call of the church’s liturgy to every generation? If we seek renewal, it means shedding of resentments. The gospel of course goes the extra mile, and then more! Forgiveness is a grace, and freely given. The cost? No cost. The second-gift,  in the teaching of Jesus Christ, the clear call for humility. True humility in being close to our beginning and our final inescapable destiny. To have this perspective is to see the image of Christ in the world as a final end to all conflict.

The Twentieth Sunday of The Year Yr.

Psalter/Daily Office Book Wk. 4

Sung Mass 11.00am

Good Morning and welcome to our Parish Mass. I was rather late in organising the Mass for Our Lady of The Assumption last Tuesday. In the event, people really did respond in a lovely way. First to those who helped with the liturgy. The readings, serving, music & singing; and helping me to clean the church beforehand. I was so grateful for even 10 minutes of your time. Getting the Hall ready was left to me! However, the food department was what came up trumps.(Not a word I like using these days!)

The preacher, Bro.Johannes Maertens CGS, spoke of the Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican and Protestant churches understanding of Mary, the Theotokos. He ended by quoting the Magnificat, the song of Mary. I wrote to thank him for his sermon. Back to the food department: the Orthodox Church provided the salad and sweet for us; the Catholic Church the cooking on the day, the Buddhist community provided the vegetarian and an Anglican some of the drinks!  Sharing food together and sitting together is one of Jesus Christ’s images of the Kingdom. Please always make time for one another, as the Lord makes time for us.
