Sundsy 23rd October 2022

                                               Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time:

‘Harvest-tide’ Thanksgiving. Please bring food or donations to Fellows Court Community Centre. Weymouth Terrace. Mrs Omo-Barre thanks us all who brought tins and goods last week.

We welcome & thank The Revd Fr. Calebmark Onyemaobi who will preach today at the Mass

He is currently curate at St Anne’s Hoxton; and also works as an Adult and mental health nurse at Lewisham Teaching Hospital

Sung Mass with the Sacrament of Baptism 11.00am

Good morning to all, and the family of little JAYLEN NKUNIM AGYEKUM. They will sponsor the child’s baptism here. It is so good to have Fr Calebmark here today to preach at his special Mass. We pray as ever for peace on earth…  May this child today find a peace in the earth of which he is a steward. May he be inspired by his parents and godparents relations and friends, to greet God’s whole creation and people with the peace of Jesus Christ. To hold out the hand of peace, begun in the family and the font.

And laid to Rest. We had a  ‘full house’ for the Funeral rites of Agnes Dwyer last Thursday. Including our good neighbours nearby and many from the congregation here of course. We were soaked by ‘tears of rain’ as we parted company with our dear Agnes for the last time; leaving her with her mother Hilda Cecilia and the angels of heaven … ‘May He guard us all the day until the shades lengthen and the evening comes and the busy world is hushed’; the fever of life over. Then is his mercy may he grant us a safe place to live (lodging), a good rest and peace at the last’. ( St. JH Newman 1801-1890). Newman wrote our last hymn today in the Epic English poem, The Dream of Gerontius. ‘Are there cardinals in heaven father’ a child asked J H Newman two years before he died. ‘No my dearest. he said. .’But our friends and the saints are there’..
